Viscosity-grade bitumen, light diesel oil and hot mix diesel described in the MACHCONZ catalogue.

Machconz supplies viscosity grades VG-10, VG-30 and VG-40 together with light diesel oil and hot-mix diesel. These sit alongside the penetration grades and emulsions on the bitumen page.

The catalogue states that bulk tanker and drum supply is available, and that products are aligned with refinery partners IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, Jey Oil, Akam and Wataniya Oil Refinery, meeting ASTM and BS/EN quality standards as claimed on the bitumen page.

Drum marked VG-10

Viscosity grade

VG-10 bitumen

VG-10 bitumen is the softest grade of viscosity grade bitumen, suitable mainly for colder climates with air temperatures ranging from -10°C to 25°C. It replaces the old 80/100 penetration grade bitumen in these environments.

Climate cited
Air temperatures from -10°C to 25°C
Replaces
80/100 penetration grade in those environments
Drum marked Bitumen VG30

Viscosity grade

VG-30 bitumen

VG-30 bitumen is a medium viscosity grade bitumen suitable for hotter climates than VG-10, typically used in road construction where average temperatures exceed 30°C.

Character
Medium viscosity grade
Climate cited
Average temperatures above 30°C
Drum marked VG-40

Viscosity grade

VG-40 bitumen

VG-40 bitumen is the highest viscosity grade commonly used in road construction, especially in regions with hot climates and heavy traffic loads such as highways.

Character
Highest viscosity grade in this range
Use cited
Hot climates and heavy traffic, including highways
Beaker labelled Light Diesel Oil

Fuel oil

Light diesel oil (LDO)

Light diesel oil (LDO) is a fuel oil with viscosity and density between gasoline and heavy fuel oil, mainly used in industrial burners, boilers, and medium-speed diesel engines.

Its typical density ranges from about 0.82 to 0.87 grams per cubic centimetre (820 to 870 kg/m³) at 15°C. LDO has a high flash point, generally above 66°C, making it safer to handle and store. It is described as a cost-effective fuel option with moderate sulfur content and efficient combustion properties suitable for medium power applications.

Typical density
0.82–0.87 g/cm³ (820–870 kg/m³) at 15°C
Flash point
Generally above 66°C
Uses cited
Industrial burners, boilers, medium-speed diesel engines

Hot mix diesel

Hot mix diesel refers to diesel fuel used in applications requiring high temperature performance, such as hot mix asphalt plants and heavy machinery in road construction. It is typically heated to maintain fluidity and ensure efficient combustion under elevated temperatures.

The catalogue does not print a separate density, flash point or sulfur figure for hot mix diesel.

Uses cited
Hot mix asphalt plants and heavy road-construction machinery
Handling noted
Typically heated to maintain fluidity
